Testissä arvioidaan, miten pennut sopeutuvat uuteen tilanteeseen ja
kohtaavat vieraan ihmisen. Testin avulla voidaan arvioida mm. millaiset
asiat tai millainen toiminta on koiralle palkitsevaa.

Kaikki pennut osoittivat ystävällisyyttä ja suurta kiinnostusta
vierasta ihmistä kohtaan. Koko pentueelle oli ominaista tutustua uuteen
paikkaan ihmisen kanssa, ei niinkään itsenäisesti haistelemalla.
Näin ollen myös omaa liikkumista voi käyttää toiminnallisena
palkkiona pennun koulutuksessa. Samoin ruokapalkkiot kiihdyttivät
pentuja jopa hyvin voimakkaasti.

Suurimmat yksilöerot näkyivät testin alussa siten, että osa
pennuista lähestyi vierasta ihmistä välittömästi ja osa puolestaan
viiveellä. Yksi pennuista jähmettyi ensimmäisen testikierroksen
alussa voimakkaasti ja osoitti karkoittavia eleitä ihmistä kohtaan.
Tämän pennun kanssa tutustuminen kesti joitain minuutteja muita
pidempään, jonka jälkeen eroa muihin yksilöihin ei enää näkynyt
edes testin toisella kierroksella.

Kaikki pennut olivat erittäin helposti käsiteltävissä myös
aktiivisen vetoleikkimisen jälkeen. Useimmiten ne rentoutuivat syliin
noin minuutin aikana. Pentujen jättäminen yksin ei aiheuttanut
huolestumista, eivätkä ne muutoinkaan ne reagoineet negatiivisesti
liikkumisen rajoittamiseen. Pennut eivät pelänneet voimakkaita
ääniä.

Kaikilla pennuilla näyttää olevan erinomaiset valmiudet aktiiviseen
ja harrastavaan elämään. Ne oppivat reagoimaan nopeasti erilaisiin
palkitseviin asioihin, mikä on koulutettavuuden kannalta positiivinen
asia. Toivon niille hyvää terveyttä ja paljon aktiivisia vuosia!

Kennel O’zone V-litter, age 47 days (born 24.7.2018)

The goal of this puppy test is to assess how puppies habituate to a new,
strange situation and how they meet a strange person in that situation.
This test can also assess what kind of stimuli or activities are
rewarding in individual level.

All puppies were friendly towards strange person. They were
characteristically interested in communicating with stranger and
exploring the new are together. Therefore is was easy to use movement as
action reward. Similarly, puppies responded ideally to food rewards.

Biggest differences on individual level showed at the beginning of the
first test session. Some puppies approached the stranger really quickly
and some of them with short delays. Surprisingly, one of the male
puppies became immobilised at the start of the first test session and
showed strong defensive behavior towards human. It took few minutes
longer than the others to get the puppy relaxed. After that, neither in
the first nor in the second test session there were no signs of
defensive or agonistic behavior anymore.

All puppies were really easy to handle, also right after intensive
playing with toys. Mostly they wanted to stay on stranger’s lap even
when they had a chance to go exploring the area. They weren’t worried
when left alone and they didn’t react negatively when their movement
was restrained. None of the puppies were scared of loud noises.

V-litter have outstanding preconditions to live a full and active life!
