Testissä tarkastellaan, miten pennut sopeutuvat uuteen tilanteeseen ja
kohtaavat vieraan ihmisen. Testin avulla voidaan arvioida mm. millaiset
asiat tai millainen toiminta on koiralle palkitsevaa.
Testi toteutettiin pennuille virikkeellisessä tilassa, jossa
lähikontakti testaajan kanssa oli vain yksi vaihtoehdoista. Pennut
olivat kiinnostuneita vuorovaikutuksesta testaajan kanssa niin muista
virikkeistä riippumatta kuin niiden ansiosta. Pennuilla oli jatkuva
mahdollisuus leikkiä yksin, vetäytyä suojaisaan lepopaikkaan tai
välttää kontakti testaajan kanssa kokonaan.
Pentutesti ajoittui siten, että pennut olivat osan ajasta melko
väsyneitä. Väsymys näkyi kuitenkin toivotuin tavoin koiran toiminnan
hidastumisena ennemmin kuin herkistymisenä. Väsyneempinä hetkinä
pennut saattoivat kantaa ja ravistella lelua yksin leikkiessään, mutta
ihmisen kanssa vain jahtasivat lelua.
Pentujen vireystila ei vaikuttanut yllättäviin tai voimakkaisiin
ääniin reagoimiseen. Virkeämmät pennut lähestyivät äänen
lähdettä väsyneitä nopeammin ja pystyivät aktiivisesti
keskittymään esineen tutkimiseen. Kaikki pennut olivat myös
huolellisesti totutettuja ihmisen käsiin ja kosketukseen. Niiden
vireystila ei vaikuttanut syliin rentoutumiseen tai esimerkiksi korvien,
suun, varpaiden tai selän kosketusherkkyyteen.
Testin perusteella näyttää, että pennuilla on erinomaiset
edellytykset aktiiviseen arkeen ja harrastamiseen. Toivon kaikille

Kennel O’zone, Z-litter, age 50 days (born April 30th, 2022)
The goal of this puppy test is to observe how puppies habituate to a
novel situation and how they meet a new person in that situation. This
test can also assess what kind of stimuli or activities are rewarding
for individuals.
Test was conducted in enriched environment. During test situations,
puppies were given a choice to socialize with stranger or completely
avoid contact with him. Due to and apart from enrichments, all puppies
were interested in socializing and interacting with the stranger.
Puppies also had opportunities to explore and play alone or to retreat
into a shelter.
Test situations were unfortunately timed and some puppies were quite
tired during test rounds. Puppies reacted to tiredness in desired ways:
by moving slower and acting calmer, but not more sensitively. Puppies
who were tired during play wanted to chase, carry and shake toys by
themselves. When more energetic, same puppies used more parts of
predatory sequence when they played with the stranger.
The energy levels of puppies did not have affect to their reaction to
sudden or loud sounds. Energetic puppies approached the source of the
sound faster and interacted with the object longer than the tired ones
or when they were tired themselves. All puppies have been carefully
handled too, since they could relax in human hands even if they were
energetic. They didn’t show any sensitivity to touch in ears, mouth,
paws or back.
Based on this test, Z-litter puppies have outstanding starting points to
live a full and active social life in human environments.
